Photogrammetry Books
This last solar Pv project was an eye opener for me. Every inspection seems to bring more insight and I am able to diagnose issues with more depth.
Recently with new AI tools coming to existence I am seeing the possibilities of doing different workloads myself.
I have certification from ITC as a Lvl 1 sUAS thermographer. Although this is just another extension to my built knowledge in the field of thermography, sUAS application is probably no different from, let's say, building thermography or inspecting steam traps. They come with their own science and analysis.
After completing the final report for Nuevasol, we haven't received a final orthomosaic from SSS. Either they haven't provided the final output to us or they haven't completed the final product even though its been 12 days after their last flight.
I am not particularly concerned about them not completing it (or not sharing it), but I do wonder what may be the challenges of completing it. Was it image/ flight quality, do they not have the capacity or the computers to process the information fast enough, or is it something else?
That is why I got these 3 books. Apparently with AI tools like LM Studio or Claude Code and I can control or guide the process in Metashape or QGIS. So now all I have to do is know what needs to be accomplished and provide prompts to get it done. My busduct report was basically finished within an hour with the simple use of Claude.
Perhaps in less than 6 months I will be able to learn how to stitch images and provide my own orthomosaic for a solar PV plant.
I suppose this is where AI is taking a lot of jobs all of a sudden. It is important to find a niche that will be hard to automate, like actually going on site to do IV curve testing or insulation testing. The more I know the more I have leverage.
