MCSA: MotorDoc EMPOWER system
I just got back from San Francisco and had this waiting for me. I have been thinking about this for over a year and am thankful that it wasn't as expensive as I thought. When Howard Penrose said that it would be roughly under $10K, I had to jump at it, knowing what this system is capable of doing. (Recently I heard him saying that they would have to increase the price range due to inflation and also likely due to demand.)
The great thing about this system is it can be updated without sending the unit back and getting it calibrated.
Why did I get so interested in MCSA?
First I'd like to point out that there is a better system called the EMPHASE system that takes both voltage and current measurements, whereas MCSA only deals with current measurements and infers the rest through motor rating inputs and their proprietary Machine learning system that completes the analysis.
To me there no better way of getting acquainted with MCA or ESA than this system here. It is relatively easy to use and easy to analyze. The one main reason for getting this system was because it can put a number to energy waste that can be difficult to measure for other condition based technologies.

Simply look at this and tell me how amazing it is. For some this isn't the main reason of getting the system, but for me it is. The rest of the features on analysis is just extra topping on the cake if you ask me.
The process is easily repeatable, doesn't take much time per unit, and set up is easy. Cannot ask for anything more for just $10K.

What I like here is that it says that the results should be double checked and verified by other technologies like thermography, vibration, and ultrasound. These are all within my wheel house and works perfectly for me. The only think I am missing is oil analysis.

I find these kind of predictive analysis to failure suspect but at least it gives a perceived ball park number. Here it says 1,658 hours of operations. If you are like Power Plant Mall, that would mean motors running at 10 hours per day--162 days left before failure. But if it is a redundant system and you have a back rotating every other day, then theoretically that would double the time till failure to 324 days. I do wonder how the motors in Power Plant is fairing now.
Overall, I am pretty excited for this technology. According to ChatGPT (and take this with a grain of salt) but learning the realm of ESA takes roughly 7 years to become proficient. Vibration is within the 5-7 year level. Power Quality is around the same as ESA or more. All in all, these technologies will require a lifetime or career to figure out.
I'm happy and looking forward to what may come.
